Delicacy of Chicken Xacuti

 

Let me take you to the beaches of Goa where the sun shines always and the silver sand is by your feet. Have you already got transported? If yes, let me take you to their cuisine. Goan Chicken Xacuti  is essentially a Goan style chicken curry packed with flavours.  

A unique dish that consists of Kashmiri red chilies, poppy seeds, coconut, onion and spices. A wonderful blend of spices and coconut gives this curry a unique taste. The texture too is amazing with ground spices and coconut. Give it a try and you will love it.

Serve Chicken Xacuti with Steamed Rice or Ladi Pav for a comforting weekend brunch.  




Ingredients

• chilies, poppy seeds, cloves, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, turmeric powder, sesame seeds, fenugreek seeds and roast them for about 3- 5 minutes on low flame.

• Roast the spices until they release nice aroma and just begin to turn brown. Turn of the heat and set aside to cool.

• Grind the roasted spices and onion-coconut mix and grind into a smooth paste by adding little water.

• Now heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a deep bottomed pan. Add the ground masala paste and cook for 5 minutes. Add chicken pieces and cook for 5 minutes with constant stirring.

• Now add water and bring it to boil. Continue to cook until chicken is well cooked. Add tamarind water and continue to cook for another 5 to 7 minutes on low flame.

• Remove from stove, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

My experience

I have always tired this dishes in restaurants but when I chose this dish I challenged myself to prepare this dish on my own without my mother’s help. So on Saturday  evening I went to the kitchen and started preparing this dish, it was a task for me to prepare it all by myself but my  experience was overwhelming.I was enjoying alot while I was preparing it. The aroma of the curry couldn’t resist me from tasting it so in the middle I started tasting  it the hot and sweet flavourful curry was a success. But on the other hand the kitchen was a mess so I cleaned the kitchen and then during the dinner time I served it,everyone liked it and I got motivated to try some more new dishes but with less of mess. My experience while making the dish was amazing but I was a bit scared while I was serving and a thought was going through my mind was will every one like it or not, but hardwork wasn’t in vain and everyone loved it.
